Not Everyone Rises.

Comics......outdoors! Not Everyone Rises is a site specific project funded by
The National Heritage.
I have taken historical moments that have occurred on a stretch of beach
which is very dear to me, as it's minutes from my house and somewhere I walk
regularly, Rye Harbour and Pett Level in East Sussex. Over the years large
swathes of history have been made up of small, personal vignettes. At 4
locations I have created 4 two page comics that reflect and depict events that
either happened close to the spot or in view of the artwork.
Stories of love and loss all connected to and by the sea.

Mary Stanford Disaster.

Situated on the site where 17 men , practically the whole fishing population
of Rye Harbour, launched into violent seas and perished in 1928 going to the
aid if a ship in distress.

Rye Harbour.

Positioned on a 'Pill Box' on the lip of Rye harbour. This panel tells the story of
an American pilot who, while fighting with the RAF, his plane came down in the
channel. His body slipped over the side of the inflatable by his crew after
passing away in their arms.

Fire Hills.

This panel dealing with the possible invasion in WW2 as seen through a child's
eyes stands over looking Rye Bay. The proposed location for the invasion of
the UK.
